Confronting

“The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.”

Mark 12:10-11

In doing this devotion, I studied up on what a cornerstone is. This is the definition: “The cornerstone is the rock on which the weight of the entire structure rests.” How profound is this in relation to Jesus.

Jesus was once rejected by His own people, King Herod, and mankind. This rejection led to our salvation, and led to Him being the Cornerstone of our faith.

Cornerstones support and hold walls together. Jesus does the same for us. Just like a cornerstone, Jesus holds the foundation firm and strong so we can lean on Him, and He supports us, never getting tired or losing His strength.

Jesus, through His rejection, is our Cornerstone through every trial. He hears our prayers and reminds us that He lived through rejection for our sakes, and knows what rejection is.

Because of Him we are not rejected. Through His rejection we are saved! He is our Cornerstone.

Prayer

God, thank You for giving us Your Son, our Corner-stone. Through His love and sacrifice, we are not rejected. You have given us a firm foundation.
