Finding Guidance

Josh Wanner40DOW

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

These are two of my favorite verses in all of Scripture. The reason is that when things get tough and we don’t know where to turn, we have a God who can help us. When things get “sticky” and we can’t figure out the why of it all, we know there is One who is all-wise, on whom we can lean for strength and help. We don’t have to depend on our own wisdom, intelligence, or wit to get us through life. We can truly trust that God knows what He is doing.

There is a great poem sometimes attributed to Corrie ten-Boom called, “Life is But a Weaving”. It describes so well what the Scripture above assures us. It goes like this:

My life is but a weaving between my God and me.
I can choose the colors; He weaveth steadily.
Oft times he weaveth sorrow; And I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper, And I the underside.
Not ‘till the loom is silent And the shutters cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas And reveal the reason why.
The dark threads are as needful In the weaver’s skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver In the pattern He has planned.
He knows, He loves, He cares; Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives the very best to those Who leave the choice to Him.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You for making our trust in You a sure thing. We never need to doubt Your love and care for us, through Christ our Lord.
