Finding Guidance

Josh Wanner40DOW

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed.

Psalm 28:7-8 (NIV)

It is easy to find strength when things are going well. We are naturally strong when rested, healthy and happy. But it can be a struggle to carry on when resources are few, and we are bone tired, sick or hurting.

My husband collapsed while eating his lunch in another state. His heart stopped in the ambulance, but they were able to resuscitate him and get him to a hospital. After a white-knuckle drive I arrived to find that an aneurysm had burst in his brain and there was no hope. My children literally drove through a tornado to get there. I had to make the decision to remove him from life support. Even harder was the phone call made to his parents, telling them their son was not going to live. His passing was unexpected, but beautifully orchestrated by God, and I began the most difficult path of all – widow-hood.

Through this experience, God has been my strength and shield. He really has helped me. He really has been my fortress, and I have learned to trust Him. I’m not bragging here – it’s not me – God really is there and really helps me. I have lived it. I highly recommend it. You can look to God for help in everything and He will be there. He will give you joy in Himself. He is trustworthy!

Prayer

Thank You Lord, for giving us strength and joy even in our troubles. Thank You for always being there..
