The Way of Knowledge

Josh Wanner40DOW

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 1:7

More than once growing up, when I’d made some colossal blunder against the advice of my betters, I heard the words, “I guess you’ve got to learn the hard way.” Actually, I still hear those words from time to time – usually from myself.

How much easier my life would be if I just listened to the advice of the smart people around me! But no, I have to try things my way, because I think I know better. More often than not, my way doesn’t work, so I fail and feel foolish.

Solomon says fools despise wisdom and instruction.

You and I are about to start a journey together into God’s wisdom. Let’s not despise it. As you read the following devo-tions and dig into the Scripture readings, set aside what you think is best and try God’s way of doing things.

We don’t have to learn the hard way, because Jesus took on the hard way for us, dying on the cross for our foolishness. God bless you during these 40 Days of Wisdom, as you put your trust in Him.

Prayer

Father, thank You for the wisdom of Your Word. Even more, thank You that in Your wisdom You sent Jesus, the Word made flesh, to show us Your way and to pay the price so we can walk in Your way of wisdom.
