“She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
In the same way people once waited for Jesus, we wait today. When you wait for Jesus, you are delivered from lesser disappointments and other things. When you wait for Jesus, nothing else really matters.
The Angel told Joseph, “Give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.” Put your faith in this promise: Jesus will save his people from their sins. Jesus will do this.
The names of Jesus reveal His character — who Jesus is, what Jesus will do. Jesus’ name is Good News. Each name of Jesus is a window through which we see Jesus more clearly and completely. Meditate and ponder the meaning of Jesus’ name for you.
Matthew 1:23, “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel,” which means “God with us.”
John 1:29, “The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”
Isaiah 9:6, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Dear Jesus, your name is above every name. At your name I bow and give thanks. Thank you for being my Savior. Thank you for taking my sins away. Thank you for being my Wonderful Counselor, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. In your Name I pray. Amen.
