Redeemer Cares for Your Health – Update

Josh WannerNews

Redeemer Lutheran Church is actively monitoring the Corona Virus (COVID-19) virus situation. We are following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control, the Greene County Health Department, and the Missouri District – LCMS to ensure that we are implementing best practices in health and hygiene.

The consistent and primary guidance from all of the resources simply state that, “If you are sick, stay home.” There is other guidance provided which you need to read and understand if it applies to you.

Given that there are two presumptive positive COVID-19 cases in Greene County as of 3/14/2020, and we have not received information advising cancellation of public meetings and activities, we are still continuing regular worship services and activities. We are making the following adjustments to our Worship activities keeping health and hygiene in the forefront of our decisions. The list below represents the changes to date:

  • Ushers will sanitize hands before handing out bulletins.
  • We can no longer reuse bulletins. Please take yours home with you.
  • We will discontinue our practice of Greeting or Sharing of the Peace.
  • All who assist with Communion will exit the Altar area to wash their hands. They will apply hand sanitizer upon returning to the Altar before distributing the Sacrament.
  • Communion distribution will use the Continuous Line method.
  • Blessings at the Altar will not require touching.

This list is a work in progress and other changes will be communicated and implemented in the upcoming weeks.

Everyone involved in the Worship Service will do their best to follow these new guideline. Please exercise patience and love as we adjust to these changing times.

We want to turn our attention to Jesus Christ and trust in in all circumstances. It is the prayer of Redeemer Lutheran Church that all in our community would experience the peace that only God can provide. We pray that we can continue to work together to promote healthy bodies, sharp minds, and strong faith – even when things feel uncertain.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
