Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they quickly brought him out of the pit. And when he had shaved himself and changed his clothes, he came in before Pharaoh. – Genesis 41:14
Joseph’s life became extremely uncertain because of the actions of his own brothers when they sold him into slavery (see Genesis 37). And yet, even though Joseph was in slavery, the Lord was with Joseph and he was a successful man (Genesis 39:2). His master even saw that the Lord was with him and the Lord caused all that Joseph did to prosper (Genesis 39:3).
However, Joseph’s life again becomes uncertain because of the actions of his master’s evil wife (Genesis 39:7-23), and he ends up in prison. But the Lord was again on Joseph’s side when He brought two of Pharaoh’s officers to him with their dreams. Joseph interpreted their dreams and gave credit to God for the action (Genesis 40:8).
In today’s verse, Joseph is released from prison by Pharaoh to interpret his dream, and Joseph again gives all credit to God for the interpretation (Genesis 41:16). We can see in the rest of the chapter that Joseph becomes immensely powerful in Egypt, and many people are blessed through his actions.
The reality is that Joseph never gave up on trusting in God even though his intimidation level should have been high. Can we do the same? We certainly have intimidation in our lives, like family illness, our own illness, financial issues or stress in our family relations. The fact remains that God is there for us in the same way that He was there for Joseph.
Prayer: Dear Lord, Heavenly Father, please guide and direct us in our lives and strengthen us with Your love. We thank and praise You for our salvation in Jesus.
