At that time I will bring you in, at the time when I gather you together; for I will make you renowned and praised among all the peoples of the earth, when I restore your fortunes before your eyes, says the LORD.

Zephaniah 3:20

We conclude the book of Zephaniah with the gathering of God’s people. The prophetic book spells out God’s wrath that will pour out against the nations of the earth.  It also tells us God will give his people a pure language that all may call upon Yahweh and serve him with one accord (vs 9).

At that time (the Day of the LORD) God will gather his people like a hen gathers her chicks. He will gather all his people together and he will restore mankind from the mist of sin that covers us. The great restoration of mankind to perfection will restore our very lives (body and soul) to perfect creatures of God.

Zephaniah is a prophecy of doom for those who detest the light.  However, it is a prophecy of reclamation and restoration for those who cling to Jesus. We can have confidence in both our future freedom and future restoration.

“The Spirit and the Bride say, ‘Come.’  And let the one who hears say, ‘Come.’  And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price” (Rev. 21: 17). Glory be to God! Amen!

PrayerFather, I praise and thank You for the reclamation and restoration You promise to me and to all believers through Your Son, Jesus Christ.  This I pray in His Name.  Amen.
