On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, fear not, O Zion; let not your hands grow weak. The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save, he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.
Zephaniah 3:16-17
What is our confidence? Some have confidence in wealth, some in position and still others in men. Wealth comes and goes, position is precarious at best, and men are sinful and full of evil in their hearts; not one is good.
Wicked men, wicked spirits, time and unforeseen circumstances may befall us, and if our confidence is placed in future promises of this world, our end will be worse than our beginnings.
However, if we rest our future hope and future confidence on the King of Israel, LORD God, we can be confident in His salvation. On the day of God’s wrath, that day referred to by the prophet Zephaniah, we shall have no fear. We shall rejoice with confidence and gladness.
Our confidence is in our Savior, the one who shall transform us in the twinkling of an eye, and we shall be raised imperishable (1 Corinthians 15:52-53). Let us remain confident in our future and our everlasting life with the King of Kings.
Prayer: Father, when my hands grow weak or weary, let me take confidence in Your presence and Your salvation. You rejoice over me, You quiet me, You exult over me with singing! Praise You Lord. Amen.
