Equipped to Bless Our City

Josh Wanner40DOD

But seek the welfare of the city… and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.

– Jeremiah 29:7

When you think about the gifts God has given you and how you can use them, do you ever think about how he has equipped you and calls you to bless our city? Some of our members bless our city every day by practicing their profession, by doing their job to the best of their ability. When we care for the physical and mental health of our citizens, educate our youth, keep our industries and retail businesses running smoothly and our streets safe, we not only provide financially for family, we bless our city.

Those of us who are in our retirement years, but still able to be physically active, can bless with volunteer hours. Springfield, Nixa and our surrounding cities have many service programs that are in desperate need of volunteers.

We bless when we put groceries in the Crosslines and Least of These carts at church, or donate items to the LWML Fall Ingathering for a local charity. When we help with the road clean-up along Hwy 14 or volunteer with Redeemer Serves, we bless our city. Many of us are able to bless with monetary donations to charities or civic causes. Any of us can write letters of thanks and encouragement to our city leaders and our civil servants. Above all, we can all be a blessing to our city by praying for it.

Prayer:

Father, we pray for your blessing on our city and your guidance for us, as we seek to know how you want to use us to bless our city.
