“But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law.”
Galatians 4:4 (NKJV)

Galatians 4:4 tells us that at the appropriate time – in God’s time, not man’s – he sent Jesus, born of a woman and born under the law – just like us.

There is a big difference though. Only Jesus could keep the law, and there is no way that we can. Jesus did this for us so that we can be saved from eternal damnation and celebrate eternity in heaven with Him. And all this is free to us!

In Ephesians 2:8-9, the apostle Paul tells who gives us this amazing gift and how we get it: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Our salvation is the gift of God through the suffering and death of His only son Jesus.

Deuteronomy 28 lists all the curses that we are subject to if we do not keep God’s commandments, but Jesus took on all these curses for us. And not just for us, but for all people of all the world for all time!

This is an unbelievable gift and we praise God for it!

Dear Jesus, we praise and adore you for what you have done for us. Grant to us faith in you to accept your gift. In your Holy Name we pray. Amen.
