40 Days of Courage

Some mornings you feel ready to take on the challenges of the day with the courage of a lion. Other mornings it takes all the courage you can muster to just get out of bed.

Welcome to 40 Days of Courage. Lent begins in a few short weeks, on February 18, 2026, and our theme during the season of Lent this year will bolster your courage as you learn to lean on the strength and promises of God.

Each of the six weeks of 40 Days of Courage will equip you for a different situation in which courageous faith is needed to make it through. You will discover the courage you need to not just survive those times, but to thrive.

One of the most lasting impacts that 40 Days of Courage will have is through our 40 Days Life Groups. These groups give people the opportunity to meet together in small home Bible studies to encourage each other and grow in faith.

This year our groups will use a video resource and discussion guide from Max Lucado called Fearless. In this study, Lucado invites:

“Imagine your life, wholly untouched by angst. What if faith, not fear, was your default reaction to threats? If you could hover a fear magnet over your heart and extract every last shaving of dread, insecurity, or doubt, what would remain? Envision a day, just one day, where you could trust more and fear less.”

Here are four ways you can participate:

  1. Attend one of our six-week groups.
  2. Encourage others to go with you.
  3. Open your home to host a group.
  4. Lead a group.

Life Groups allow Redeemer members to meet in people’s homes on a more informal basis to enjoy each other’s’ company, encourage each other in faith and apply God’s Word to their everyday lives.

The purpose of Life Groups is to create connections in people’s lives – connections with God and with other believers at Redeemer Lutheran Church.

We have over a dozen standing groups that meet regularly throughout the year, and many others that meet for shorter periods.

Along with general mixed Life Groups, we also have focused groups for:

  • Springfield Lutheran School parents
  • Young adults
  • College students
  • Singles
  • Seniors
  • High School Youth
  • Women
  • Homeschoolers
  • Others, as requested
