And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons.
– Matthew 21:12
When Jesus entered the temple and saw corruption in a place meant for prayer, He acted with holy courage. His righteous anger was not for personal gain but for the honor of God’s house.
Sometimes, we too encounter brokenness – in our world, in our communities, even in our own hearts. It takes courage to confront what is wrong and allow God to restore what is holy.
Lent invites us to examine the “temples” of our lives and ask: Are they places of worship, or have distractions taken over? Jesus longs to cleanse and renew us so that we can truly be His dwelling place.
Prayer: Lord, cleanse the temple of my heart. Remove anything that keeps me from worshiping You fully. Give me courage to con-front sin and distractions and help me live in a way that honors You.
