Anna: A lesson in trust

Josh Wanner40DOC

And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem. – Luke 2:38

Anna was a prophetess who was widowed after seven years of marriage. She spent the next eighty-four years in the temple, worshipping with fasting and prayer night and day. She was there in the temple when Jesus was presented as an infant, and was the second to testify that He was the Redeemer.

Anna showed courage in the face of weakness!

She was elderly and alone, but still gave thanks to God and spoke to others about Jesus.

In those times, proclaiming the coming of the Savior without the protection of a husband or the strength of youth was an amazing act of faith. Anna was as vulnerable as it gets, yet she recognized and proclaimed Jesus to all who would listen.

When we are weak, let’s remember Anna. Let’s look to the Lord and find courage in Him. He is faithful. He loves us. We can find our strength in Him!

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for sending your Son to save us. When we are weak, you promise to be with us. When we need courage, you promise to be our refuge and shield. We look to you now and always with hope and thanksgiving.
