Dying

Josh Wanner40DOD

Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last.

– Luke 23:46

He breathed His last and gave up his spirit. Don’t think that those words did come to me two years ago when I had to say good-bye to our son. When I think about what we went through, seeing our son, Andrew, at times trying to get his breath.

Our son grew up knowing Jesus and Jesus knew him. He touched a lot of lives in his short life and went on to proclaim His grace and love. He taught us all how to be caring, and loving people in the Lord. And yes, he did teach his parents a few things also.

Jesus was put on this earth to minister, teach, pray for us all, and to take away the sins of the world. He grew up knowing what his life was all about. He knew his purpose on earth. I can only imagine what Mary must have been going through watching her son hanging up there on the cross suffering. Mary, like us, knew that her son was going to be taken away. Jesus died to take away our sins. Knowing what His death would mean to the world, still doesn’t help with a mother losing her son.

Our son was one of the best gifts we received. Jesus dying on the cross is the other wonderful gift.

Prayer:

Dear Jesus, thank you so much for taking our place and taking away our sins.
