Equipped with Every Spiritual Blessing

Josh Wanner40DOD

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.

– Ephesians 1:3

Often, we think of blessings as things that turned out good in our earthly lives – blessed with a healthy family or overcoming a challenge or something new that just brings us joy. These words from God have more of an emphasis on Spiritual blessings.

Jesus came to give us a kingdom and claim us as His own to be members of the royal family. It is a wow moment as one considers all the blessings that flow out of it. The Lord’s prayer begins with “your kingdom come,” and spiritual blessings follow. Renewed in heart and mind, I can do the will of God; we worship God as our provider; we celebrate our forgiveness and share that when we forgive others; we are delivered from evil; and our hearts desire to worship God in the glory of his kingdom of love and peace.

We are equipped each day in the power of our Baptism to live anew, with the power of God in the Holy Spirit leading and guiding us to worship and serve God in spirit and in truth. We are connected to the heavenly realms and the glory of God lives in us. We carry into each day a kingdom of glory and power.

Looking at our spiritual blessings with the armor of God reminds us of what we have:

Truth: Jesus, “the way the truth and the life” (John 1:14).
Righteousness: God’s gift to cover our sin and make us holy.
Holy Feet: Seeking the will of God and ready to go and do good.
Faith: Inspires a holy Christian life and resists the devil.
Salvation: Makes a sinner a member of God’s holy family.
Holy Spirit: Fills our lives with the Word of God so we live by faith.

Prayer:

Dear Jesus, thank you for so many spiritual blessings in my life. Renew my heart today to live in your power for your glory. I also repent today for not thanking you often for the many spiritual blessings I have in my daily prayers.
