Finding Healing

Josh Wanner40DOW

“Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.”

Proverbs 3:7-8 (NIV)

What is your first thought when life turns a corner you don’t expect? It can be a joyful corner that fills your heart with happiness, but sometimes it can be a dark corner that fills your heart with fear. Our own eyes can trick us by letting Satan focus for us. That’s when it’s time to raise our hands to shun Satan and praise the Lord who is our refuge and strength.

I remember years ago when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. John and I were sitting in the office of bad news. As the practitioner handed me a huge notebook of information, I was simply trying to process the diagnosis. I looked at John who had a tear crawling down his cheek.

Later as we climbed into the car, I said, “Well, I thought that is what she would say.” John responded, “You said everything was going to be okay.” A calm feeling fell on my heart when I remembered who was really in charge of my life. I exclaimed, “Everything is going to be okay, no matter what happens.” God gave me peace knowing I would be healed physically, or be perfect in heaven.

Shunning the evil one and turning to the Lord brings healing and a full life on earth or in heaven.

Prayer

Dear Lord, You are our Great Physician and Comforter. Thank You for turning our wavering eyes from evil and encouraging us to trust in You.
