I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

Psalm 119:11

One day Morgan and Rose were studying Bible verses. After a while they heard Alex say, “Why do we have to study this so much?”
Rose told Alex, “The reason we study God’s Word is because we need to keep His Word in our hearts and to grow our faith in Christ.”
“But I thought we were already forgiven?” Alex said.
“We are already forgiven.” Morgan exclaimed.
“But Jesus still asks us to do good things,” said Rose.
Mr. Kane came over and said, “What’s going on?”
“Alex doesn’t want to study,” said Morgan.
“Why do we study Bible verses?” Alex asked Mr. Kane.
“The reason we study Bible verses is because we need to keep God’s Word in our heart and find wisdom in His Word,” said Mr. Kane.
Alex said, “Morgan and Rose shared that with me.”
“Well, did Rose and Morgan also share that if we don’t have God’s Word in our hearts, then we miss out on the gifts of forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life?” said Mr. Kane.
Alex said, “I never thought about it that way.”
“What verse can help Alex?” Rose asked.
“Well, many of them can help us keep God’s Word in our hearts, but one stands out. It’s Psalm 119:11,” said Mr. Kane.
Rose then said, “Isn’t it… I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you?”
“I am beginning to understand why we study our Bible. If we read God’s Word, we can use the Bible verses in our everyday life to give us wisdom and help us make good choices,” said Alex.

Prayer

Dear God, we pray that You will help us find wisdom from Your Word and help us grow in our faith.
