The Way of Wisdom

Josh Wanner40DOW

For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

Proverbs 2:6

Imagine you missed your lunch and are very hungry. You see your favorite snack on the table. You intend to eat just a little bit, just to tide you over. The next thing you know, you ate the whole thing. Your stomach hurts. You feel sick.

Sin is just like that. Your intent was to sin just a tiny bit. You were going to stop after a little gossip, or cheat on just one thing, or swear just once – you get the idea. The next thing you know, you have gone farther than you intended. You’ve hurt yourself and others; you feel sick with sin. How can you ever feel good again?

Our Heavenly Father knows we are going to mess up. That is why we need a Savior. We need someone to help us make wise choices that will do us good and not harm all the days of our lives. By clearing our minds of garbage and focusing on Him, we find peace, happiness and gain wisdom.

Make space in your day and mind for prayer and meditation. Read the Bible daily. Let God fill your mind with good things. You will fall at times, but that’s okay. We all make mistakes. With each attempt you will be stronger. You will feel better and temptation will be easier to resist. If you are filled with the bread of life, you will no longer feel empty. You will be fulfilled and satisfied by the Word of God.

Prayer

Thank You Lord, for giving us wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Help us seek Your will, see Your will and do Your will every day.
