What was the best book you have read lately? What story have you recently been told that you could not wait to tell someone else? Perhaps it was a murder/mystery novel that had just the right amount of romance and intrigue. Maybe it was a “Good News” story from a favorite radio show or podcast.
As I have been reading The Story this year with Redeemer, there have been moments when I have thought “I just have to tell someone about this!” The Bible is filled with so much intrigue, so much drama, so much irony, so much love that it is the perfect Story to be told and retold time and time again. It’s the type of Story that demands to be shared!
As we approach Easter 2022, the climax of The Story is fast approaching as well. The climax of The Story, the climax truly of all of human history is what happened to this Jesus of Nazareth on the cross of Calvary just over 2000 years ago, where he died and then rose again for my salvation, for your salvation from sin, death, and the power of the devil. All evil destroyed – in one moment!
This Easter at Redeemer, we want to SHARE this story, as much as possible, with the world around us. Our world could truly use some good news, and as Christians, as those who know this story, we have some Gospel (Good News) to share indeed! After all, we do have the mission at Redeemer of not only GROWING in Christ, but also SHARING his Word.
In order to accomplish this goal of re-telling the story of Jesus, and really of the entire Bible, the Redeemer Serves Team is partnering with both Springfield Lutheran School and Redeemer Nixa Preschool to “Chalk the Block” at both of our campuses this Easter.
At this event, participants of all ages will be encouraged to cover our church’s sidewalks and parking lots with the story of God’s love for his creation, through chalk artwork and encouraging messages. The congregation and all those who come to school and worship will (weather permitting), then be able to enjoy the artwork all throughout Holy Week, and on Easter Sunday as well.
In addition, each participant will be sent home with a pack of chalk in order to “Chalk” their own blocks at home or in city parks with more messages of God’s love and care in Christ Jesus! Please join us for our “Chalk the Block” event. Two opportunities are being offered for you to chalk our campuses:
Friday, April 8th – 6-8pm, Springfield Campus
(During SLS Family Fun Night)
Saturday, April 9th – 1-2:30pm, Nixa Campus
(Cookies and drinks Provided)
Many, LORD my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.
Psalm 40:5
Come help us make our campuses beautiful as we prepare to celebrate the climax of God’s Story!
Your Servant in Christ,
Pastor Jarod Koenig
